Clashes rock Tripoli and Beirut

Syria's civil war is fuelling clashes between Sunni Muslims and Alawites in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli.<br/> <br />On Monday, four people died as gunmen traded fire on the streets, prompting concers that Lebanon could see a new era of violence.<br/> <br />Sporadic fighting has also spread to the capital, despite a heavy military presence across much of Beirut.<br/> <br />Prime Minister Najib Mikati and President Michel Suleiman met to discuss the emerging crisis, but did not speak to the media afterward.<br/> <br />However, authorities did say they'll stamp out unrest and "take decisive measures" to prevent Lebanon from slipping into a second civil war.<br/> <br />Tensions are rising in the wake of the assassination of a senior Syrian intelligence officer and seven others in Beirut on Friday.
