Malala Yousufzai, the 15-year-old shot in the head by the Pakistani Taliban for advocating girls' education, recovers in a British hospital with her family by her side.<br/> <br />At an emotional news conference, her father Ziauddin said his daughter was strong and recovering well.<br/> <br />But he said he had initially feared the worst.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) MALALA'S FATHER, ZIAUDDIN YOUSUFZAI, SAYING:<br/> <br />"I told my brother-in-law that you should make preparations for her funeral, but thanks to God."<br/> <br />He said the family cried when finally reunited with Malala on Thursday.<br/> <br />Yousufzai first confronted the Taliban when she was 11 and has since become a powerful symbol of resistance to the radical Islamist group.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) MALALA'S FATHER, ZIAUDDIN YOUSUFZAI, SAYING:<br/> <br />"She fell temporarily and she will rise again. She will stand again, and she can stand now. But when she fell Pakistan stood, along with the world."<br/> <br />British doctors say Yousufzai has every chance of making a good recovery at the special hospital unit - expert in dealing with complex trauma cases.
