The lights are back on in New York's Subway system.<br/> <br />At least partially.<br/> <br />For the system's 5 million riders each weekday ... any good news is a relief.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) COMMUTER, TRACY ALMER, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Yeah, I walked about five miles yesterday to and from work, so I'm happy to have the subways back for the time being, so."<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) COMMUTER, ADAM RUSHBAUM, SAYING:<br/> <br />"It's great. It's more convenient for sure and it's...I walked to work yesterday, so I walked about 70 blocks."<br/> <br />Four of the seven subway tunnels remain flooded and there is still no service in Manhattan below 34th Street.<br/> <br />But for New Yorkers hearing the rumble of subway trains for the first time in four days, it points to one sign of recovery from Sandy's devastating blow.
