Taylor Swift turns on Christmas lights in London on U.S. election day

Country-pop star Taylor Swift brought the festive spirit to London on Tuesday (November 6) as part of a promotional tour for her latest album 'RED'.<br/> <br />The singer-songwriter wore a long red dress and switched on the Christmas lights in front of screaming fans at Westfield Shopping Centre in west London.<br/> <br />She then rocked the stage and performed three songs, including the hit single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" from the new album.<br/> <br />Although the 22-year-old was away from the United States on the day of a neck-and-neck presidential election race, she made sure her voice was heard.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift, saying (English):<br/> <br />"I did my absentee ballot, so I sent it in.... I try not to talk too much about politics. I think it's important that everybody should, you know, exercise their right to vote, but I don't think I should be telling people who to vote for."<br/> <br />Swift's latest album sold 1.2 million copies in its first week of release, making her the only female singer to have seen two of her albums sell more than a million copies in the U.S. in one week.
