"Gangnam Style" rapper Psy brought his famous horse-riding dance to the Oxford Union on Wednesday (November 7).

The South-Korean artist, whose real name is Park Jae-Sang, was invited to speak at the world's most famous debating society.

He was invited by the Union's first South Korean and east Asian president, John Seung-Yoon Lee, who also grew up in the same neighbourhood and went to the same school as the 34-year-old rapper.

Psy, who is following in the footsteps of the likes of Winston Churchill, the Dalai Lama and Michael Jackson, said he was baffled about the invite.

"It's an honour and it's kind of weird. Why did they call me?" Psy told waiting reporters outside the famous building.

Dozens of photographers and hundreds of fans had been waiting for the artist's arrival, who is currently on a promotional tour through the UK.

Already a big star in his native South Korea, Psy has become a global success after the video of his song "Gangnam Style", which features a horse-riding-style dance, went viral.

The video, which mocks the consumerism of a rich Seoul suburb, has attracted more than 660 million hits on video-sharing website YouTube since it was released in July this year.

Giving his first public speech in English, Psy told the Oxford Union crowd about his concerns about making a follow up to the famous song.

"With the Gangnam Style I'm living in a dream and I'm living in a nightmare. So which means, make a speech at the Oxford Union, this is kind of dream. But nightmare means about the next one. I gotta beat Gangnam Style. I gotta beat 670 million views. I gotta beat horse riding dance. And I gotta beat the music video. All that things like toilet scenes and you know elevator scenes. How can I beat that elevator scene. It's so nasty, right? How can I beat that," Psy told his audience.

Once the official part was completed, Psy could not resist and teach some of the students in the audience his now infamous horse riding dance.
