Congolese Rebels, thought to be backed by Rwanda take control of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo.<br/> <br />After fighting off U.N.-backed Congolese forces, the group of mutinying soldiers seized control of the border city.<br/> <br />One resident says they've been abandoned by the government and the U.N., which gave up defending the city.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (French) GOMA RESIDENT, VICTOR KABENGELE, SAYING:<br/> <br />"The United Nations peacekeepers are completely useless, they stood and watched the rebels take over without putting up any resistance. We feel absolutely cheated."<br/> <br />United Nations experts and the DRC government accuse Rwanda of sponsoring the revolt to seize the region's mineral wealth.<br/> <br />U.N.-backed efforts have failed to halt violence or rein in rebel groups in the east of the country.
