ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: Demonstrators clashed with police on Saturday as security forces tried to clear out a protest camp, set up at the future site of an airport in western France.<br/> <br />The confrontation in Notre-Dame-des-Landes, not far from the French city of Nantes, saw police remove the temporary dwellings using heavy machinery and attempt push back protesters by firing tear gas.<br/> <br />French media reported that three people had been injured, including one police officer.<br/> <br />The proposed airport is expected to replace the current Nantes-Atlantique airport, situated on the fringes of the French city.
