Incessant shelling has left the strategic town of Maarat al-Numan in ruins, forcing many of the 150,000 residents to flee.<br /><br />Syrian state TV announced there had been a large earthquake in the town, but that is not what residents say.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Sue Turton reports.
