A small town in north Wales is engulfed by water after the local river overflowed onto its streets.<br/> <br />Fire fighters were joined by volunteer members of the local RNLI sea rescue organisation to free residents who were trapped in chest-high water.<br/> <br />Britain's Environment Agency said Tuesday nearly 1,000 homes across England and Wales had been flooded since the onset of the wet weather almost a week ago.<br/> <br />Flood warnings were in place in some 350 locations on Tuesday evening.<br/> <br />Britain has been hit by several severe floods over the past 10 years, with one in the summer of 2007 costing insurers about 3 billion pounds ($4.8 billion).
