Water in Venice rose to 103 centimetres above sea level on Wednesday - flooding St. Mark's Square and nearby tourist areas.<br/> <br />The levels aren't as high as recent floods - but still forced people here to make use of raised walkways - or brave the waters with rubber boots.<br/> <br />Many bars and cafes in the area are still operating - their chairs half submerged.<br/> <br />A fresh peak of 130 centimetres was expected late on Wednesday, as strong southeasterly winds continue to blow across The Floating City.<br/> <br />Much of Italy has been battered recently by strong winds and heavy rainfall, causing widespread flooding.
