The oil company BP has been temporarily banned from taking new contracts in the US.<br /><br />It's just weeks after BP paid a record fine for the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.<br /><br />The company's been told the ban won't be lifted until it proves it's meeting certain safety standards.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's John Terrett reports from Washington, DC.
