In Turkey, tensions between Kurds and local police are so high that even a funeral can spark clashes.<br/> <br />Police blocked the entrance to a cemetery where locals planned to hold a funeral for two Kurds killed during a protest.<br/> <br />When several mourners began throwing stones, police responded with tear gas and water cannons.<br/> <br />Those who managed to enter the cemetery also encountered smoke grenades.<br/> <br />Kurds make up a fifth of the population and their party, the PKK has pushed Ankara for an independent Kurdish state.<br/> <br />At least tw o people were wounded in the clashes.
