Gun owners fear new restrictions

In the aftermath of the Connecticut school massacre, gun owners are apprehensive about new restrictions.<br/> <br />Virginia's Blue Ridge Arsenal was busy with customers on Tuesday (December 18).<br/> <br />Many are fearful of loosing the freedom to own weapons such as the Bushmaster AR-15-style assault rifle, which was used in the Newtown shooting.<br/> <br />The group Gun Owners of America says limiting ownership is not the answer.<br/> <br />Communications chief Erich Pratt believes potential victims should be able to respond to any threat.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS, ERICH PRATT, SAYING (English):<br/> <br />"Criminals will, or the criminally minded, will go after soft targets. They pick places like schools where guns are banned, they are the only ones with a gun and we've made mandatory victims out of all these teachers and children."<br/> <br />The National Rifle Association (NRA) says it's prepared to offer contributions in a bid to stop further massacres.<br/> <br />U.S. lawmakers haven't approved a major new federal gun law since 1994.
