Celebrity tenors Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras performed to a packed audience at Moscow's Christ the Saviour Cathedral on Wednesday (December 19).<br/> <br />The duo gained fame alongside the late Luciano Pavarotti as the Three Tenors.<br/> <br />The two surviving members appeared alongside an orchestra, two female voices and a children's choir, for a benefit concert in aid of disabled and impoverished children.<br/> <br />Moscow's Christ the Saviour Cathedral has recently been in the headlines for another reason.<br/> <br />In February of this year members of the anti-Putin punk rock band Pussy Riot performed their 'punk prayer' in the church, which led to jail sentences for two of the women.<br/> <br />Carreras and Domingo, however, played it safe on this occasion - performing in a concert hall separate from the main altar.
