EDIT CONTAINS 4:3 MATERIAL<br/> <br />Eleven children between the ages of four and six were killed when the minivan bringing them to school crashed into a pond in southern China.<br/> <br />The driver of the van said she lost control of the vehicle on poor road conditions.<br/> <br />Four children who survived the crash are in stable condition at a nearby hospital.<br/> <br />One resident saw the accident unfold, and was able to save two children... one was his own daughter.<br/> <br />"I saw a teacher holding up a child above the surface of the water" , he said. "I recognized the child was my daughter when I reached out and pulled her up."<br/> <br />There were 17 people on the seven-seater vehicle at the time of the crash.<br/> <br />The driver, who also runs the school, said she woke up late and tried to fit all the students in the van at once.<br/> <br />She is being detained for questioning.<br/> <br />Officials say the private kindergarten does not have the proper permits, although it has been operational for the past six years.<br/> <br />Fifteen children, one teacher and the driver were all packed into the seven-seat vehicle.<br/> <br />Search and rescue teams scoured the pond for any additional survivors.
