ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: Torrential rains wreaked havoc in the central Amazon region of Peru on Wednesday, displacing hundreds of families, while also devastating local crops and demolishing public infrastructure.<br/> <br />Overflowing flowing river waters uprooted trees and inundated roads, forcing some residents to abandon their riverside homes in search of higher ground.<br/> <br />While people struggled to salvage their belongings, the abrupt and forceful nature of the rains left many with no other option but to head for safety.<br/> <br />Although there were no reports of injuries, three people were reported missing as a result of the storm.
