Final Print Issue of Newsweek Released

<p>Newsweek's final print magazine has been released with a cover bearing the headline: "#LastPrintIssue" -- a hashtag alluding to its all-digital future.<br /><br />The departure from its hard-copy publication bids farewell to 80 years of printed magazines.<br /><br />All future issues will be available digitally only and the first online issue will be on sale on January 4th.<br /><br />On the final printed copy is a black-and-white image of Newsweek's iconic former offices in New York City and inside is a nine-page article paying homage to the publication's former staffers and articles.<br /><br />Newsweek announced in October that it planned to halt its print publication and merge with the Daily Beast -- the online network run by editor Tina Brown.<br /><br />Brown tweeted an announcement of the final print issue's cover, accompanied by two simple phrases: "Bitter sweet!" and "Wish Us Luck!"<br /><br />First published in 1933, Newsweek became the second largest weekly news magazine in the United States, after Time magazine.</p>
