New England was covered in a thick blanket of snow on Sunday after a winter storm dumped up to 30 centimetres of snow across the northeastern United States.<br/> <br />Residents of Rhode Island spent the day outside, shovelling snow from steps and blowing it from driveways.<br/> <br />At the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, home to the New England Patriots, volunteer crews helped clear the snow, which started falling on Saturday afternoon.<br/> <br />The national weather service had also issued winter storm warnings for parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.<br/> <br />Police reported dozens of accidents, mostly involving cars slipping off snowy roads.<br/> <br />.
