It was once a thriving city - a centre of learning and commerce on the old Trans-Sahara trade route.<br />But Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State in modern-day Nigeria, is now struggling.<br />Three years of violence between the armed group Boko Haram and the military has left people there desperate.<br />Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow travelled to Maiduguri to meet some of the victims who have nowhere to go.
