ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: New York film critics have named their picks for the best films and performances of 2012.<br/> <br />Director Kathryn Bigelow won her second best director honor for "Zero Dark Thirty," which also won for best picture of the year.<br/> <br />Actor Matthew McConaughey also went home double fisted by winning best supporting actor prizes for his role as a stripper in "Magic Mike" and an attorney in "Bernie."<br/> <br />Critics awarded actress Rachel Weisz with the best actress trophy for her role as a suicidal woman entangled in an affair in "The Deep Blue Sea." Weisz, who has also received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance is shocked over the attention the film is receiving.<br/> <br />'The Deep Blue Sea' didn't have any sort of push or advertising or anything of that sort," Weisz said.<br/> <br />The British film was first released in the UK in 2011 and in the U.S. in early 2012.<br/> <br />"It's lovely to be part of a movie when there is a studio with a big budget to support you with advertising, that's a wonderful thing. But in this case that didn't exist and the fact that the film is being honored without all that makes it, yes, doubly special," she added.<br/> <br />Both leads from director Steven Spielberg's film "Lincoln," Daniel Day Lewis and Sally Field were voted best actors by the organization.<br/> <br />The New York Film Critics Circle was founded in 1935 and includes members from daily and weekly newspapers, magazines and online publications.
