(ROUGH CUT ONLY - NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />A family on a beach in Western Australia was enveloped in darkness as a dust storm struck on Wednesday (January 9) near the town of Onslow.<br/> <br />It was an otherwise ordinary day at the beach for local mother Hayley Brett and her family, when the gigantic dust storm suddenly approached, plunging them into darkness.<br/> <br />Brett told Reuters that her husband was taking a swim when he noticed the approaching storm and told his family to look.<br/> <br />The family tried to reach their car when everything went pitch black, she said.<br/> <br />Weather experts say the incredible sight of a 'red wave' from the sea was created as wind and rain caused the storm to dump the sand and dust it had taken from the land.
