Alfred Gockel was born in 1952 near Münster, Germany.<br />His first work of art was published at the age of 8 years old by a German publisher.<br />In his childhood he worked as a miner at 700 meter depth. This is why he uses self-prepared tar in his acrylics. <br />He studied at the Polytechnic Art University in Münster.<br />Alfred Gockel became well known and recognized in Germany as painter and as successful international publisher of only his own artworks with a worldwide distribution.<br />Since 1983 Alfred sold and distributed until 2006 almost 100 million open editions to framers, art & design shops and galleries.<br />In 1990 he bought a silkscreen printer and started a collection of original limited, hand-signed silkscreen prints, mainly abstracts, which sold very successfully too.<br />In his travels he has met Salvador Dali and Miro and he’s a great admirer of Chagall, Kandinsky and Picasso. <br />In the United States he was impressed by the art of Jasper Johns and Jackson Pollock.
