A black day for China's overstretched transport sector as a series of bus crashes on Friday leave nearly 40 dead.<br/> <br />These are the mangled remains of a bus in China's Sichuan province where at 11 people died.<br/> <br />Eighteen others were injured after the bus flipped over and tumbled down a 100-meter deep slope.<br/> <br />Seven people were killed on the spot while four more died in hospital.<br/> <br />Also on Friday, at least 14 people were killed in China's Gansu province after this bus veered off the road and into a 10-metre deep ravine before catching fire.<br/> <br />Another 32 were injured and sent to local hospitals for treatment.<br/> <br />The bus was carrying mostly migrant workers and their family members.<br/> <br />State media reported a third bus crash on Saturday in southwestern China that left 13 dead.<br/> <br />The accidents happened as the country prepares for Chinese New Year next week, which will see hundreds of millions travelling back to their hometowns for family reunions.
