A mass funeral for nine soldiers who were among at least 35 people killed near an army checkpoint in northwest Pakistan.<br/> <br />A security official says 12 militants and 13 soldiers were killed in the clash.<br/> <br />The Pakistan Taliban is claiming responsibility. They say the attack was in response to a U.S. drone strike in neighboring North Waziristan last month in which two commanders were killed.<br/> <br />Officials said that two bodies at the scene had suicide bomb belts on them.<br/> <br />The militants also targeted a house with rockets, killing 10 members of one family, including three children.
