Watch more and discuss:<br />http://norwalk.itsrelevant.com/content/13205/Gun_Buyback_Collects_18_Guns<br /><br />The Norwalk Police Dept. held its first ever gun buyback program Saturday, and rounded up a total of 18 guns to be destroyed by state police. <br /> <br />"A lot of elderly people have been turning in their guns, just because they don't want them to fall in the wrong hands," said Lt. Praveen John. <br /> <br />Overall, police collected 12 long guns and 6 handguns. $925 worth of Visa gift cards were given out, leaving over $4,000 leftover from the anonymous donation the police received to run the buyback <br /> <br />"We were expecting a good turnout," said John, who added the department expected about 15 guns in total. "Especially since this is the first time doing the gun buyback program, this was a good turnout." <br /> <br />Lt. John said he expects the department to host another buyback in the near future.
