ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />Actress Lindsay Lohan made a surprise appearance at an AIDS benefit gala on Wednesday (February 06) in New York.<br/> <br />The star of the movie "Mean Girls," who has been in and out of rehab and jail since 2007 was wearing a Roberto Cavalli dress for the stars studded black-tie event.<br/> <br />She will stand trial on March 18 on charges she lied to California police about a June car crash and violated probation, raising the possibility she could be sent back to jail.<br/> <br />A judge in Los Angeles last Wednesday (January 30) set the trial date on charges related to the car crash and said the court will hold a hearing at the same time on whether Lohan in the incident violated probation from a 2011 jewellery theft.<br/> <br />The 26-year-old was also arrested in New York on a misdemeanor assault charge in November. The Manhattan district attorney's office has not filed a criminal complaint in the assault case.
