(ROUGH CUT ONLY - NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />Protesting tyre workers on Tuesday (February 13) threw eggs, flares and other items at French riot police during a demonstration by hundreds of people outside the headquarters of the U.S.-owned Goodyear tyre company, as its management board prepared to discuss the closure of a plant in the north of the country.<br/> <br />Riot police raised their shields for protection as the demonstrators pelted them with eggs. The police advanced slowly to force the protesters back.<br/> <br />The decision by Goodyear to close a French plant employing 1,250 workers near the northern city of Amiens was announced in January.
