Sweet And Spicy Shrimp - Recipe

Sweet and spicy? On shrimp? How can that be? Trust us, this one takes humdrum shrimp and turns them on their ear! We serve this over rice with a green vegetable; but you can just as easily add these to a stir fry. Want to grill these - stand back - people will be crowding the BBQ at your next cookout.<br /><br />Ingredients<br />1¼ pound shrimp, peeled<br />¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon<br />¼ teaspoon black pepper<br />¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper<br />½ teaspoon dark brown sugar<br />¼ teaspoon dry mustard<br />freshly squeezed orange juice<br /><br />Method:<br />Combine salt, black pepper, cayenne, mustard, cinnamon, and brown sugar; mix well.<br />Coat the shrimp with the spice mixture. Cover bowl & refrigerate at least 15 minutes and up to 24 hours.<br /><br />Preheat fry pan with a little olive oil and fry shrimp until pink & opaque.<br />If grilling, cook shrimp over hot coals until opaque, about 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Watch carefully you don’t want to overcook!<br />Drizzle juice over shrimp and serve with rice & green veg.
