Even as the principal opposition party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came down heavily on P Chidambarams General Budget, one of its supporters Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lauded the Union Finance Minister. This after the FM proposed evolving a new criteria for determining backwardness of states and awarding them special category. Describing the Centres stand on the special status as a positive sign, Nitish Kumar said that it was a victory in-principle for Bihar in view of its consistent demand for grant of such a status. And while the BJP continues to downplay the issue, the question to be asked is, is there more to Congress wooing JD (U)?
