Her parents spoke French in the household when she was growing up and good old swamp pop music and Cajun tunes were a part of the family soundtrack. She fronted her first country band at the age of 12 and has a lifelong passion for singing good music. She is now based in Charleston, SC where she met up with Lowcountry bluesman Shrimp City Slim and his band, whose stylistic leanings toward south Louisiana swamp pop meshed perfectly with Shelly. They are now performing together regularly and are poised to release the aforementioned debut CD "Swamp Pop Princess".
