The world's most famous sled-dog race is underway in Alaska as 66 mushers and their teams kicked off the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog race.<br/> <br />Most of the dogs are mixed breed huskies and wear booties to protect their feet from the ice and snow covered terrain.<br/> <br />Participants come from all over the world. There's even one musher from Jamaica.<br/> <br />Last year's winner completed the 1,000 mile race in under nine days.<br/> <br />The winning purse for the competition is $600,000.
