ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: Hundreds of migrants arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa on Thursday and Friday (March 28, 29).<br/> <br />An Italian coastguard video showed around 260 migrants traveling on three separate boats. They were intercepted by coastguard officials and most appeared to be of African origin.<br/> <br />The migrants were taken to a holding center on the island of Lampedusa, which is the southernmost part of Italy. Tunisia is the closest landfall to Lampedusa and is about 113 kilometers (70 miles) away.<br/> <br />It's thought improved weather conditions and calmer seas have prompted the migrants to travel.
