Followers of voodoo make their annual pilgrimage to a Haitian temple to celebrate one of the mystic religion's holiest of days, Easter Sunday.<br/> <br />It's an ancient practice that first emerged among Africans brought to Haiti as slaves in the 16th Century and then fused with the Catholic beliefs of Spanish and French slave masters.<br/> <br />The faithful mark their devotion to their gods by sacrificing goats.<br/> <br />Outside the Souvenance Mystique temple, the ground is strewn with candles and offerings of food and drink.<br/> <br />Blood-stained worshippers dance to the sound of drumming, song and prayer, hoping to connect with deceased ancesters...and become possessed by voodoo spirits.
