It was broadcast as an hour-long syndicated television special and is one of the first color recordings of James Brown.<br />James Brown's first #1 hit, "Try Me," was released in 1958. It is the best-selling R&B single of 1958 and the first of 17 chart-topping R&B singles by Brown over the next two decades. James Brown recorded an instrumental version of "Try Me" for the Smash label in 1965 which charted #34 R&B and #63 Pop in the U.S. It was one of the few times in American music history that a song became a hit on two separate occasions in vocal and instrumental form by the same artist.<br /><br />Video transcript:<br /><br />James Brown: Try me.
