At least 22 people died when a bus went over a cliff and down a ravine in a mountainous part of northern Peru on Saturday (April 13) morning, local media reported.<br/> <br />The accident near the town of Otzuco sent the bus tumbling down some 200 metres (650 feet) and reportedly left at least six other passengers injured.<br/> <br />Rescue workers arrived at the crash site near Rio Moche in search of survivors and to retrieve the bodies of victims from the wreckage.<br/> <br />Over 40 passengers were estimated to be on board when the bus crashed.<br/> <br />Lethal traffic accidents are common on Peruvian roads, claiming thousands of lives in recent years.
