Nearly 1,500 runners took part in the 31st annual Seven Mile Bridge Run in the Florida Keys on Saturday (April 13).<br/> <br />The race was held on the longest bridge in the Florida Keys, which was closed to traffic for two hours and fifteen minutes.<br/> <br />The Seven Mile Bridge Run has become an extremely popular event in the southeastern United States.<br/> <br />Typically, the online registration to sign up for the race fills up within a matter of minutes when it opens in mid-February.<br/> <br />The race was first held in 1982 to mark the completion of 37 new bridges to replace converted railroad bridges built in the early 1900s.
