EDIT CONTAINS 4:3 MATERIAL<br/> <br />Sandstorms hit parts of China's northwestern Xinjiang region on Tuesday (April 16), state media reported.<br/> <br />Official state television CCTV showed footage from multiple cities in Xinjiang where traffic was enveloped in a reddish cloud of dust.<br/> <br />State-run news agency Xinhua said a cold front brought on the storm that blew sand from Xinjiang's deserts into the cities.<br/> <br />CCTV said visibility was reduced to less than 30 metres (98 feet).<br/> <br />Xinhua, quoting China's National Meteorological Centre said that the sandstorms will last through Thursday (April 18), adding that the affected areas will include other provinces of central and western China.
