After two months of political deadlock, Italy finally has a new president.<br />Giorgio Napolitano has been re-elected as president for a second term.<br />The 87-year-old was voted in by an overwhelming majority.<br />He has previously said he would not stand as a candidate, but changed his mind in an effort to restore political stability to the country.<br />Al Jazeera's Claudio Lavanga reports from Rome.
