Progress 51 lifts off for the International Space Station

An unpiloted Russian craft carrying cargo for the International Space Station launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 6:12 a.m. EDT (1012gmt) Wednesday (April 24) for a two-day trip to the orbital outpost.<br/> <br />The ISS Progress 51 cargo craft replaces the trash-filled Progress 49 which undocked from the station's Zvezda service module on April 15.<br/> <br />It is loaded with more than 3000 pounds (1361 kilos) of spare parts, experiment hardware and other supplies for the station crew.<br/> <br />The cargo craft is scheduled to dock with the station's Zvezda service module Friday (April 26) at 8:26 a.m.
