A man convicted of spying for India was attacked by inmates in a Pakistan jail on Friday.<br/> <br />He is now in critical condition, according to his lawyer, after suffering a serious head injury.<br/> <br />The prisoner, Sarabjit Singh, was arrested in 1991 and sentenced to death for spying and carrying out bomb blasts that left 14 people dead.<br/> <br />His family says he is innocent, and his execution was stayed four years ago by ex-Pakistani president, Pervez Musharraf, after appeals from the prime minister of India.<br/> <br />Relations between Pakistan and India have been tense after three wars since 1947 and the casting of blame for the 2008 Mumbai attacks.<br/> <br />This incident could cause the already uneasy relations to become inflamed once again.
