After some two months of a political stalemate, a new government in Italy.<br/> <br />On Sunday, new Italian Prime Minister, Enrico Letta, took the reins of power.<br/> <br />Ahead of the first cabinet meetings, he was joined by former Prime Minister Mario Monti for a symbolic bell handover ceremony.<br/> <br />Letta was able to unite former political rivals in a broad coalition government, after February's inconclusive elections left the government in limbo.<br/> <br />Earlier, the cabinet was sworn in.<br/> <br />The mix of center-right and center-left politicians and unaffiliated technocrats was largely welcomed by Italy's mainstream press.<br/> <br />Letta is expected to set out his government's plans in parliament on Monday and will then need to win a vote of confidence in both houses to be fully empowered.<br/> <br />Letta's tenure was off to a difficult start when two police officers were shot and wounded Sunday just outside the prime minister's office, while the new government was being sworn in less than a mil
