The Ceylon Electricity Board is increasing electricity rates to make up for a $400m shortfall in its annual bill for generating and providing power.<br /><br />Some people will see their bills increase by as much as 50 percent.<br /><br />The issue has caused an uproar, even in parliament which was suspended for a day after politicians came close to trading blows.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Minelle Fernandez reports from Colombo.
