ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION<br/> <br />Violence erupted in the Bangladeshi capital on Sunday as thousands of hardline Islamists clashed with police as they called for the enactment of a new blasphemy law.<br/> <br />Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse thousands of protesters who had blocked streets in Dhaka during a rally which had been permitted by the authorities.<br/> <br />Supporters of the Hifazat group smashed vehicles during the mayhem, and attacked two television journalists who were covering the blockaded, local media reported.<br/> <br />Two motorbikes were set on fire inside the premises of the Baitul Mukarram mosque, local media reported.<br/> <br />Media reports said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had rejected the call for a new law saying the current one was adequate.
