Malcolm Shabazz, grandson of Malcolm X, has reportedly died in Mexico. San Diego Union Tribune reporter Sandra Dibble tweets, "Malcom (sic) X grandson Malcom (sic) Shabazz was beaten to death yesterday in Mexico City, according to Juan Ruiz, member of labor group Rumec."<br /><br />Dibble later tweeted that the US State Department is aware of the death of a U.S. citizen in Mexico City but would not further comment at the request of family members.<br /><br />Shabazz, who was the first male heir of Malcolm X, spent four years in prison following a manslaughter and arson conviction for a fire that killed his grandmother, Betty Shabazz.<br /><br />Malcolm Shabazz was 28.
