Buck's Dance Orchestra - I'm Always On The Road To Nowhere

2013-05-11 2 Dailymotion

This pseudonym refers to Billy James' Orchestra. Although he was a talented songwriter who composed quite a few tunes and recorded a significant number of good dance band sides for dime store labels, unfortunately hardly anything is known about him today. The vocalist on this delightful 1928 recording, Arthur Fields (1888-1953) was a baritone, a successful songwriter and prolific recording artist in the 1910-1930s. Among Field's most prolific partnerships was the one with bandleader and pianist Fred Hall, with whom he made plenty of records and co-wrote several songs, often with comic titles like The Shoes We Have Left Are All Right and I Can't Sleep In The Movies Anymore. Hall and Fields also broadcasted together as Rex Cole's Mountaineers.
