Put car in neutral, press the clutch, then turn on the car. <br />To change gears: <br />First, gradually let off the accelerator while simultaneously pressing down on the clutch. <br />Then, shift the gear. <br />Lastly, gradually let off the clutch, while simultaneously pressing down on the accelerator. <br />Pressing down the clutch isn't necessary to press down the brake pedal. <br />When stopped at a stop light, put car in neutral and use the brake pedal. <br />When parking and leaving the car, use the parking brake and put the car into gear. <br />Remember: <br /> Learn the engagement point. <br /> Don't ride the clutch. <br /> Don't downshift to first gear unless you're going slow. <br /> Some cars have features to assist you when on a hill. <br /> Don't let someone tell you it's difficult to learn. <br />After driving a manual for a week, muscle memory will take over, and shifting occurs automatically. <br /><br />Please come back to TV Dave Chappelle <br /><br />May 12, 2013: Subaru WRX & Driving a Manual Transmission <br /><br />If you would like to guest star in a video, let me know by sending me a message.
