***GRAPHIC IMAGES***<br/> <br />New images from the Syrian battlefield seem to suggest a level of gruesomeness far beyond what some of the country's fiercest critics could have imagined.<br/> <br />The video, posted to the internet purports to show a rebel commander cutting into the torso of a dead soldier and taking a bite of one of his organs. Reuters cannot independently verify the content of the video which was posted to a social media website.<br/> <br />Tamara Alrifa of Human Rights Watch has identified the commander as Abu Saffar, founder of the Farouq brigade.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Tamara Alrifa of Human Rights Watch saying:<br/> <br />And the reasons we're sure this is him is that we've compared this footage to other footage we've had, and we managed to recognize some of his clothes, but also a ring that he's wearing and the scar under his left eye, so we're in no doubt about the person.<br/> <br />Human Rights Watch condemned the brutality of the video on Tuesday as did Washington.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Tama
