Check out the last year of reviews: users have complained about a program they want to like, but the bugs have killed the usability of Illustrator. Worse yet, Adobe seems to have abandoned updating or even fixing Illustrator
  • Crashes on iPad

I thought that the constant crashes were because I didn’t have enough memory or that my iPad was too old. Got a brand new one and put very little on it. It still barely works and crashes too often. Not great for a graphic designer.

Would like to see more features available that are already available on desktop

Illustrator for iPad has serious stability and responsiveness issues. I’m using a current iPad Pro with plenty of available performance, and the app frequently becomes unresponsive or force-closes while working on relatively simple vector artwork. I’ve experienced freezes during basic editing, Type on Path operations, Pathfinder/Combine Shapes work, and even while renaming or saving a document. In one case, an existing document repeatedly returned “Can’t Place File” for both JPEG and PNG images, while the exact same images placed normally in a new Illustrator document. Copying the image from the new document into the existing one worked, which suggests a document-state or application bug rather than a file-format problem. The app is extremely useful when it works, especially with Apple Pencil, but the instability makes it difficult to trust for professional production work. Constantly saving, duplicating files, reopening the app, and creating workarounds to avoid crashes significantly disrupts the workflow. Illustrator for iPad could be an excellent professional design tool if Adobe focused heavily on stability, document reliability, and responsiveness.
  • Crashes so often, can’t even work properly

Just as the title says. This app crashes 10 billion times before you can even start a project.
  • Buggy and lacking desktop features, but still effective.

I have used illustrator for a longtime on my desktop, and just made the switch to my iPad. I expected more from the app honestly- but it isn’t terrible. I like how intuitive it is, and how it is a simple interface. However, it is missing some key features and tools, and it glitches quite a bit (I have the most recent update on a brand new ipad, so it is an issue with the app) which can get a little annoying. However, with all of that being said, I still prefer illustrator over the other apps out there. I just feel like Adobe is a bit behind on this app for tablets. Hoping the next update fixes these issues!
  • App won’t open

I’ve used this app for years and now it won’t open just force closes and crashes. Unable to access any of my files or work on anything new. Unsurprisingly they are able to charge me but not able to get the app to open.
  • They’ve lost the plot.

Can’t find anything. They keep removing important things like swatches and making it unbelievably complicated to use. The UI design is awful. You have to drill down to find the tools you use frequently, do complicated app connects, and the undo is next to the button that saves so you get stuck with ruining your work a lot, or you have to do a lot of gestures that don’t register and mess up your work. It’s easier for me to draw on paper and scan in my work, since I often have to start over from scratch just the same in this program.
