Vocabulary - Learn words daily

I love this unironically lol love have ing little words of the day and of course expanding my vocabulary ☺️

The app doesn’t seem to give an option to personalize what words should be suggested. I was bombed with words that I would never dare to slip into a conversation or even a paragraph - “jouska” - seriously??? It’s not even a word. Additionally, annoyingly, the app doesn’t seem not provide etymology. How can one memorize and associate meaning if no explanation given on to the origin. Waste of money.

Changed notifications to only show the word in a sentence, no definition. All this to get you to click into the app but that makes it useless for me. Deleting this app.

I've had this app for well over a year, maybe two. The ads don't bother me so much, it's the paywall. Anyone who downloads this app is trying to expand their vocabulary but the developers do so many things to prevent that. The Home Screen widget has been broken for months, the words don't update daily, or at all. When you try to save a word, the screen is so sensitive that if you're not precisely tapping the heart or the save button, the word changes to the next and is lost forever. When trying to get the word back by swiping down, a new word appears. You don't get the option to get reminders of your favorited words, unless you pay. The history only goes back 5 words. Adding in a word, doesn't add the entry from the app, you have to individually enter the definition (sometimes it auto populates) and example even if the word is already in the app's catalog. There's no fun or efficient ways to learn new words, that aren't behind a pay wall. The only thing I really like is the wallpapers. You can switch them out every day with plenty of free options that only require you to watch an ad. And you can change the widget wallpaper to be different from the app wallpaper. I wish I could find an app that does it better, but apparently there's very few apps in this category from what I've seen.

Love the app other than there being no option to not send words to your watch. I took the app off the watch but I still get notifications I do not want.

Why do I have to pay for literally everything what do I look like giving anyone $36 a year to teach me a couple new words that I would never use in daily conversation

Why doesn’t it say that there is a membership fee before asking me all the questions.

Why does the developer seem desperate for you to open the app? What started as a thinly veiled attempt to get you to open the app via fake ⚠️urgent notification messaging⚠️ has now progressed into showing only an example of the word used in a sentence, now I’m forced to open the buggy app in order to find its meaning. This app had its issues and was at least tolerable before, but now it’s just annoying. What are you tracking? Why are you being manipulative? Uninstalled.

Don’t be fooled on how nice the app is. To actually learn words you have to get a membership which includes a method of payment. Yes you can look at words and their meanings but if you are unwilling to pay, this is not that app for you and I would advise you to keep looking.
