  • redesign is terrible and ruined what was good about the app

    TLDR; they redesigned gemini photos and got rid of everything that was unique and good about gemini. now it’s hard to navigate and looks terrible and is just a generic photo wiping app. 2 stars only because of what it used to be, don’t waste your time this went from being the easiest and most efficient app to use to clean my photos to being the worst. not at all worth DOUBLE the previous subscription cost. (maybe i’m wrong about that but i’m 90% sure i used to only pay $12-13 annually) gemini helped me clean 40k photos from my phone in an hour multiple times and now i suddenly have to wait for it “scan” images..? i get that i have a lot of photos on my phone but it didn’t take 20+ minutes to scan 40k photos on my phone before, it took maybe 5 minutes to load everything. this is genuinely ridiculous and i didn’t even want to try the rest of the app because of this. also, biggest problem with the redesign is that you got rid of the ONE reason i downloaded this app. i downloaded it because you showed me duplicates easily and allowed me to swipe right/left on photos i wanted to keep and get rid of, now im just getting showed a list of screenshots??? that defeats the whole purpose, i can do that myself on the photo app. maybe it’s a premium only feature, but i can’t even tell because i can’t get the trial anymore since i paid for gemini twice and im not paying $24 or even $6 for this app that im not sure i even like anymore. in the free version of gemini at least i got to try things out before it asked me to buy and is why i did. the app doesn’t look like its going to let me do any of the things i used to like about gemini so why would i even bother paying. this app also looks terrible, its hard to look at and is way more confusing to navigate compared to gemini. i wish you just made a second app instead of forcing me to go through this redesign because now i wont ever use it again unless its reverted back to gemini. and for my nitpicks, CleanMyPhone is not something i would’ve downloaded off the app store because it sounds like another generic scam app that says it’ll clean your phone of viruses or whatever. gemini photos was unique and made sense since the app helps you go through duplicates and should’ve just been changed to gemini photo cleaner if you wanted it to be more clear.

    I originally started off with the Gemini App. I loved the interface and it made going through my photos so easy. One day I noticed I couldn’t find the Gemini app and discovered it changed. The interface is not the same as Gemini. I loved being able to swipe yes or no on photos. I can’t even swipe to move to the next picture half the time (the little circle photo icon below the photo wants to move) It also does not go through videos like gemini does. I’ll do one last sweep of my phone then I’m unsubscribing.

    I had paid for the Gemini app and now they changed app itself to some cleaning tool. This is bait and switch kind of thing. The new updated app does not categorize similar pictures. Even it doesn’t identify the photos copied from some other sources which are on the iPhone . They are thousands of Cleaning app for free. Why should we pay for this stupid app? if you are looking for something like cleaning tool, then this is not for you stay away from this. Two tickets with the support team and they did not respond to me . They closed the ticket in the weekend itself how can we expect any better support from such non-working app. This is the biggest mistake to buy a subscription from such developers.

    The new “upgrade” only feels like a downgrade. Most of the features I loved have been removed since they renamed the app from Gemini.

    This is useless compared to what I bought with Gemini. Absolutely disappointed. This doesn’t help to clean photos at all the way Gemini was capable of. The whole reason for purchasing Gemini was completely ruined with this transition.

    This seems like a decent app but based on their customer service – or rather, lack of – it's very difficult to give an accurate review. It appears that a number of other users (and potential users) have also experienced similar issues with submitting questions and never receiving responses from the developer. In my case, I've been waiting for 6-7 weeks and have sent multiple follow-ups, but have received nothing besides "we haven't heard from you, do you still have an issue?" auto-emails. It's also disappointing that they've released this app under the 'Gemini' label in order to keep their 5-star ratings high.

    i used to use the free app then i purchased the full version. now it doesn’t work at all. crashes almost every time i open it. waste of money
